4. Amit Shah to meet village heads of border districts

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address a gathering of village heads of three border districts - Kutch, Banaskantha and Patan - near Dhordo tent city in Gujarat''s Kutch district on November 12, an official said on Wednesday. Apart from village heads, members of district and taluka panchayats of the three districts have also been invited for the gathering, Kutch district collector Praveena D K said.

5. Higher positivity indicative of hidden Covid-19 transmission in states: Harsh Vardhan

The Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday while reviewing the pandemic situation of seven states including Maharastra, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya and Goa said that higher positivity of Covid-19 cases is indicative of hidden transmission of the disease.

6. Pope Francis vows to end sexual abuse after McCarrick report

Pope Francis pledged on Wednesday to rid the Catholic Church of sexual abuse and offered prayers to victims of ex-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, a day after the Vatican released a detailed report into the decades-long church cover-up of his sexual misconduct. Francis defrocked the 90-year-old McCarrick last year after a separate Vatican investigation found he sexually abused adults as well as children.

7.Police to track firecracker violators with GPS-fitted device

The West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) is distributing over 1,000 GPS-fitted sound monitoring devices among different police stations in the state to track people violating the firecracker ban during Kali Puja. The Calcutta High Court has banned the sale and bursting of firecrackers during Kali Puja and other upcoming festivals.

8. Kerala to amend laws for voters hit by Covid

The Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday decided to facilitate the COVID patients to cast their votes in the upcoming local body elections in the State in the last one hour of the polling time. The State Cabinet decided to recommend the State Governor to amend the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act and Kerala Municipality Act accordingly.
