Three killed in road accident in Kanpur

In a tragic incident, three people were killed in a road accident in Kanpur after their van rammed into a state government bus in Uttar Pradesh. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and an investigation is underway.

Kanpur: At least three people, including two women, were killed when the Maruti van they were travelling in collided with an Uttar Pradesh government bus in Dhamni Nivada on Sunday. The incident happened on GT road under Shivrajpur police station limits.

Five people were travelling in the van out of which three died on the spot and two were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

The deceased have been identified as driver Rinku (21), Maya Devi (35) and Ramkali (42). PuranLal and Ram Prakash sustained injuries and were referred to the district hospital in Kanpur as their health condition deteriorated.

According to the police, the deceased belonged to Kannauj district and were going to Kanpur for medical treatment when the mishap occurred.

After the accident, people gathered in large numbers at the accident spot and disrupted traffic and police had a hard time clearing it.
