New Delhi: Lok Sabha proceedings on the first day of Monsoon session of the Parliament were adjourned till 2 pm amid uproar by Opposition. Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the new council and Cabinet Ministers initially.
As the Opposition continued to create ruckus, PM Modi pointedly said, "I thought that there would be enthusiasm in the Parliament as so many women, Dalits, tribals have become Ministers. This time our colleagues from agricultural and rural background, OBC community, have been given berth in Council of Ministers….Perhaps some people are not happy if country’s women, OBCs, farmers’ sons become Ministers. That is why they don’t even allow their introduction."

"Perhaps some people are not happy if the country's women, OBCs, farmers' sons become Ministers. That is why they do not even allow their introduction," stated Prime Minister Modi.
In a scathing remark against the chaos, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the Congress party's behaviour in Parliament was unfortunate and unhealthy. Singh said he has never seen PM not being allowed to introduce Ministers in Parliament in his 24 years of experience.
The Parliament session will continue till August 13. The Opposition, reportedly, has been gearing up to slam the BJP-led NDA government on issues like skyrocketing of petrol and diesel prices and Covid-19 pandemic management along with others.
