'Those who lie get covid infection': Vijayvargiya takes jibe over RaGa positive report

Bhopal: Taking a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who tested positive for coronavirus, BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said he was infected because he lied about the cancellation of his election rally in Bengal.

Taking a pot-shot at Gandhi, he said "those who used to 'lie' would get infected."

Several BJP leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah was infected by the virus in the first wave of the pandemic.

Earlier on Tuesday, he claimed that the pandemic is 'normal' in the country and the media is spreading panic by "showing bodies of COVID-19 victims piling up."

He urged the media to also show positive stories of those serving the Covid 19 patients.

"I request to the people in the media. Every day you are showing dead bodies (of COVID-19 victims), suffering and agony of dying patients. This is creating panic among common people," Vijayvargiya told reporters.

The senior BJP leader and in-charge of the party affairs in West Bengal claimed the saffron party will easily get past the majority mark (148 seats) in West Bengal after the sixth phase of polling on April 22.

"After the seventh and eighth rounds of voting, the party's tally of seats would reach 200 in a house of 294," he claimed.

West Bengal assembly elections are being held in eight phases. The last phase will be held on April 29, while counting of votes will take place on May 2.
