Taliban ransacks Indian Consulates in Herat and Kandahar

Fresh reports have emerged from Afghanistan about Taliban ransacking two Indian consulates in the cities of Kandahar and Herat. On Wednesday, the Taliban entered the two Indian consulates, ransacked the places, searched for documents, and drove away with the parked consulate vehicles.

Hyderabad: The Taliban had promised that they will not harm foreign embassies and civilians after their takeover of Kabul. However, the words spoken by the radical group can't be trusted as reports from Afghanistan showcase violence perpetrated by the Taliban in the country. Fresh reports have emerged from Afghanistan about Taliban ransacking two Indian consulates in the cities of Kandahar and Herat. On Wednesday, the Taliban entered the two Indian consulates, ransacked the places, searched for documents, and drove away with the parked consulate vehicles.

It is contrasting to the overtures and assurances given by the Taliban leaders to India that they would like the Indian diplomats to stay and work in Afghanistan. However, earlier this week, the Government of India has successfully evacuated its embassy staff of Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif. Indian consulates of Kandahar and Herat were shut earlier at the onset of the Taliban's offensive in the country. There are still over 1,000 Indians still trapped inside the country and the government is working to evacuate the Indians from the country.

Meanwhile, as per foreign media reports, the Taliban are carrying out a door-to-door search in Kabul, looking for people who worked with the Afghan National Army and the National Directorate of Security, Afghanistan's intelligence agency. This development is happening despite the Taliban promising amnesty to their enemies and government officials.
