J&K: A suspected militant has been killed in an encounter in Rakhama area of the Shopian district. Security personnel including 34 battalions of Army 34 RRCRP and Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the Rakhama Kapran area after receiving reports of the presence of militants.
The deceased militant has been identified as Mujeeb Amin Lone, son of Muhammad Amin Lone, resident of Redoni in Kulgam district. A pistol was recovered from his possession, the J&K Police said.

As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where suspected militants were hiding they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter in the wee hours of Friday, police said, adding that the incident took place at around 4:40 am and that the operation has now ended.
According to police, the militant who was killed was reported missing since last month.
