Under 'Project Vijayak', snow removal work on the 434 km-long highway has been completed up to the 'Zero Point' while the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has finished work till Aab Math from the Zojila side.

Ganderbal DSP (Traffic) Faheem Ali told ETV Bharat that vehicles get stuck because they leave from Jammu without collecting information about the status of the highway. He said, "We had opened the highway for traffic on February 28, but it snowed again and we had to close it. The snow has been cleared many times from the road but the weather has remained erratic, making it things difficult."
