New Delhi: Amid a scarcity of oxygen supply in states, Haryana on Wednesday sought the help of Indian Railways to provide oxygen via Oxygen Express.
The Railways has informed that currently, five tankers are being loaded in Faridabad, which will be filled in Odisha's Rourkela.
"As of now, it is planned that two Oxygen Express trains with a capacity of five tankers each will be run specifically for Haryana," Indian Railways said in a statement.
After the state's appeal, the Central government has also increased Haryana's daily oxygen quota from 162 metric tonnes (MT) to 232 MT.

The Indian Railways has, so far, delivered more than 510 metric tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) -- to Uttar Pradesh (202 MT), Maharashtra (174 MT), Delhi (70 MT) and Madhya Pradesh (64 MT).
Earlier today, Madhya Pradesh received its first Oxygen Express with more than 64 metric tonnes of oxygen. These tankers were unloaded at various locations -- Jabalpur (one tanker), Bhopal (two tankers) and Sagar (three tankers). The fourth Oxygen Express, destined for Lucknow, will reach today with three tankers of LMO.
"Another empty rake is on its way from Lucknow to Bokaro, which will bring another set of oxygen tankers replenishing oxygen supply to Uttar Pradesh. Continuous Oxygen Express to Uttar Pradesh is ensuring uninterrupted oxygen replenishment to the residents of UP," the Railways stated.
