New Delhi: As the Punjab Congress has been struggling against a rebellion lately, it is now the party President Sonia Gandhi, who is being intervened into the matter to resolve the feud within the state unit. In line with this, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amrinder Singh as well as former minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, along with several other senior leaders have been summoned to Delhi for a meeting on June 20. According to the sources, Gandhi is expected to meet both the leaders in an attempt to end this ongoing rift.
Last week, a three-member committee, constituted by Congress President to resolve the infighting with the Punjab unit, has submitted its report to the party High Command after conducting a series of meetings with the party MLAs, MPs and even Captain and Sidhu to listen to their grievances.

According to the sources, Sidhu had made it clear during the meeting with the AICC panel that even if he would be offered a post of Deputy CM, he won't feel comfortable working under Captain Amrinder Singh. He also told the panel that CM is not accessible for the party members, MLAs or even his own Ministers.

Sidhu has been consistently on a rebellious path as he waged a war on Twitter against Punjab Chief Minister, making controversial statements of the unfulfillment of promises, his quid-pro-quo with Akalis and even questioned the probe on Sacrilege matter. While on the issue of Sacrilege matter, Capt had assured the Committee that a proper investigation would be conducted and strict action would be taken at the earliest a new SIT is on the job. The panel has also recommended in its report that there is no alternative to Captain Amrinder Singh to lead the party in Punjab and therefore, the upcoming Assembly Elections in 2022 will be fought under his leadership.
Congress high command is expected to take action as per the recommendations of the three-member committee to find a solution of factionalism within its Punjab unit. In addition to this, the three-member panel had also apprised Rahul Gandhi about the report prepared after deliberations with Punjab Congress leaders. There, a discussion regarding MLA Pargat Singh's statement against CM, was also being held and strict disciplinary action may be taken against him.
