SRINAGAR (JAMMU AND KASHMIR): Jammu and Kashmir's Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Friday claimed that the situation across the Valley is "under control. He said no untoward incident has been reported from any part of Kashmir during the last two days.
"Following the separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani's death (on Wednesday evening), the situation across the Valley has remained peaceful and people are cooperating to ensure peace. Not a single untoward incident has been reported from any part of Kashmir during the last two days," the DGP Singh said while talking to reporters after taking security review in north Kashmir Baramulla district.
On the communication blackout in Kashmir, the DGP said that the police and the administration will 'very soon take a call on the restoration of mobile phone connectivity and internet.
He also termed reports of some Kashmiri boys joining the Taliban as baseless.
"Nobody has joined the Taliban from Kashmir. This is just malicious propaganda. Youth are busy in sports activities like rugby, cricket and volleyball. Youth are busy shaping their career." he said, adding, "Situation is peaceful and there is no need to worry about Taliban."
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar wore a deserted look with concertina wire and barricades placed at all major entry and exit points of the city.

At Hyderpora, Geelani's residence and grave, there was a heavy deployment of security forces to quell any sort of protests in the wake of the current situation and Friday.
Internet services remained suspended, educational institutions, public transport and the railway service remained closed for the second day, while causing inconvenience to the public while reaching hospitals and government offices.
Friday prayers were not offered for the third time at Srinagar's central mosque Jamia Masjid and Dargah Hazratbal. Last month, prayers were allowed only once at these religious places. However, prayers were offered at other small and local masjids where the Friday sermon was brief and was largely based on Geelani's persona and politics.
Geelani,92, has been active in Kashmir politics for around 50 years. A few months ago, he resigned from the Hurriyat Conference (G).
During his long political career, Syed Ali Geelani was a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly from the Jamaat-e-Islami and the Muslim United Front for at least 15 years. He later bid adieu to mainstream politics and played a key role as a separatist leader.
Geelani has been under house arrest for the past 13 years. He was detained during Omar Abdullah's rule in 2010 when a public protest against the killing of four Kashmiri youths in a mock clash led by him took place in Kashmir in which dozens of people were killed.
