New Delhi: Following the resignation of Malvinder Singh Mali after his controversial remarks over Kashmir, Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat termed it as a good decision, however, said that he would not comment on the issue as it is between Navjoot Singh Sidhu and Mali.

Last week, Mali had posted on Facebook that both India and Pakistan are illegal occupants in Kashmir.

While speaking to ETV Bharat, Rawat further said that he does not use the means of media to convey his protest to the president.

Earlier Rawat had told the media, "If any of the Congress member would have said anything about Jammu and Kashmir, it would be condemned. It is up to Navjot Singh Sidhu if he should continue on his post or not."

This comes amid the ongoing crisis within Punjab Congress as a section of leaders have put out a revolt against the Chief Minister Captain Amrinder Singh, demanding his replacement alleging that his style of working will harm both party and government in the state.

Rawat informed that he will meet both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi tomorrow to brief them about the prevailing situation in Punjab. While a day before Rawat had said that the 2022 Assembly Elections will be contested under the leadership of Capt Amrinder Singh, today he refused to comment over the matter.

In his resignation, Mali called the established politics of Punjab "by and large devoid of intellect", asserting that he will continue his relentless struggle against the politics "Laden with narrow personal interests".
