New Delhi: While the Congress party was celebrating the inclusion of two big faces in the party on Tuesday, on the other hand, the resignation of state president Navjot Singh Sidhu in Punjab nearly shaken the party. After the resignation of Sidhu, two ministers from the cabinet of newly-appointed Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and three state Congress office-bearers have also created an atmosphere of instability by quitting. On the whole issue, ETV Bharat spoke to Gurjit Singh Aujla, Congress MP from Amritsar, who described Sidhu's resignation as disappointing.
Everything happened according to Sidhu's mind
Aujla said that in Punjab, the party did everything according to Sidhu. When the name of the Chief Minister was to be announced, the names of Jakhar and Randhawa were making rounds, but when their name was not agreed upon, Sidhu okayed the name of Charanjit Singh Channi and called him his younger brother. After that even appointments were made in the party organization heeding to his wishes. Sidhu was with them till the swearing-in of the cabinet, but yesterday, just before the ministers were to take charge after the portfolio allocation, Sidhu announced his resignation with a tweet.

Not happy with the portfolio allocation of ministers
It is learnt that Sidhu was unhappy with the appointment of some officers and the portfolio allocation of ministers. But Aujla gave a concrete reason for this resignation. He said that he should have spoken to the Chief Minister and held a meeting with the cabinet. If there was any problem, then all the big leaders of Punjab Congress could sit together and resolve it but Sidhu took his own decision. Praising Charanjit Channi, Congress MP Aujla said that after being made the Chief Minister by the party, his stature has grown and people are also liking him very much.

Sidhu proved the captain right
Looking at the turn of events, it seems that once again Captain Amarinder's prediction has been proved right that Sidhu is not stable. Talking about it, Congress MP said that when Captain said this earlier, no one supported him, but now Sidhu himself has vindicated Captain's words.
Aujla has been sitting on a dharna at Jantar Mantar in Delhi for the last 300 days against three agricultural laws, but he says that no one from the state Congress has supported him even by tweeting. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi had reached him and fellow MPs have also supported him. Gurjit Aujla also took a jibe at Sidhu that only tweeting does not work. In fact, something has to be done to get the support of the people. By trusting Sidhu, the party high command gave him a big responsibility on which he had to work now.
Meanwhile, Congress Spokesperson Alka Lamba targeted Navjot Singh Sidhu after his resignation Punjab Congress President post. Alka Lamba said that Sidhu should retire from politics and join Kapil Sharma in Mumbai instead. She added that politics is a very serious subject, but Sidhu is not able to catch it. Kapil Sharma is missing him in Mumbai, he should go back and join the show. Congress had trusted him, but he did not live up to it. However, Alka Lamba clarified that these are her personal views.
