New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Delhi Police pertaining to the plea filed by seven wrestlers seeking registration of FIR against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Singh. The top court has listed the matter for hearing on Friday.

The plea filed in the apex court by the seven wrestlers seeking registration of FIR against the WFI president was mentioned before the court on Tuesday. The court noted that the allegation contained in the petition by the country's top wrestlers are 'serious' in nature.

The grapplers who have resumed their protest in the capital's Jantar Mantar on Sunday moved the top court on Monday against the Delhi Police not registering the FIR into the sexual harassment charges leveled against the WFI chief by seven wrestlers. The Delhi Police said that they have started investigating the matter and will register the FIR as soon as they get some evidence.

Meanwhile, the Police has also asked for the findings of the report submitted by the probe committee that was constituted to look into the charges against the WFI chief. Th wrestlers have also alleged that the report has not been made public despite it being sublitted to the government.

The wrestlers participated in a sit-in throughout Sunday night and said that this time they won't budge. Earlier, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur assured the protesting wrestlers of an independent probe into the sexual harassment charges. However, months later, Brij Bhushan Singh continued to be the WFI chief. Meanwhile, the Indian Olympic Association, on Monday suspended the elections to the WFI for the time being.
