Santosh Manjhi meets PM Modi, seeks Bharat Ratna for 'Mountain Man'

New Delhi: Bihar minister and senior leader of Hindustani Awam Morcha Santosh Manjhi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday. In an exclusive interaction with ETV Bharat, Manjhi informed that he sought the Central government's cooperation for the development of Bihar.

"We have also demanded Bharat Ratna for Dashrath Manjhi, also known as Mountain Man. We also sought reservation for scheduled castes and tribes in the private sector,'' he told ETV Bharat. Talking about Hindustani Awam Morcha's stand on caste census, Manjhi said that our party's stand on this is very clear. Caste census should be conducted in Bihar, he added.

He said that there is an alliance government in Bihar which is a coalition of BJP, JDU, Hindustani Awam Morcha Vikas and Vikassheel Insaan Party are there. Speaking on the return of Lalu Yadav into Bihar politics, Manjhi said that all parties are united and there is no conflict between parties in the NDA government on any issue.

"The Bihar government will complete its term and will run for a full five years. No matter how big an alliance Lalu Yadav may form, there will be no harm to the ruling NDA government. If the worn-out, losers unite, it will not harm the Bihar government. NDA is united across the whole country including Bihar," he claimed.

Notable, since getting bail in the fodder scam case, Lalu Prasad Yadav is residing in Delhi at the residence of his daughter and Rajya Sabha MP Misa Bharti following his poor health condition. On the other hand, he is also indicating a return to active politics after he met with prominent opposition leaders.
