Indian envoy in US urges help from business community

Indian Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu interacted with members of the business community on the current state of the Covid-19 epidemic in India. During the conversation, Sandhu told the business community about the materials that India needs on priority. These include oxygen concentrators, cylinders, ventilators, oxygen production plants and drugs such as Remdesivir and Tocilizumab.

Washington DC: Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu interacted with members of the business community on the current state of the Covid-19 epidemic in India. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce hosted a digital meeting on Thursday. During the conversation, Sandhu told the business community about the materials that India needs urgently. These include oxygen concentrators, cylinders, ventilators, oxygen production plants and drugs such as Remdesivir and Tocilizumab.

Sandhu tweeted that we appreciate the US Chamber for the prompt response and resource mobilization of the American business community to assist India in tackling the Covid challenge. In the last few days, the US Chamber of Commerce has mobilized support for the supply of medical supplies to India; united partners of other industry bodies; and coordinated with the US government.

Sandhu said that he had important talks with Albert Burla, CEO of Pfizer. He also interacted with Suzanne Clark, President of the US Chamber of Commerce and US Senator Jeff Merkley. He has discussed ways in which Pfizer could collaborate on healthcare efforts in India, including vaccines, and strengthen efforts to combat the epidemic.

The Indian Ambassador informed that two U.S. aircraft were heading to India carrying oxygen equipment and other Covid-19 related items. The Indian diplomat also tweeted, thanks to (US) President Joe Biden for standing shoulder to shoulder with India in this challenging time.
