Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition parties continue to rake up Sabarimala issue in Kerala ahead of Assembly election. When asked about whether there are any legal consequences for raising the issue, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said there is no problem, unless any law and order violation is reported. Arora said the Commission would intervene if there are any law and order issue.
The Chief Election Commissioner also said the date of the Assembly elections would be decided considering Easter, Vishu and Ramadan. CBSE exam dates would also be considered. He said the Election Commission would decide later on whether to hold the elections in a single phase.

In the wake of Covid-19, there would be an additional 15,000 polling booths this time. He said a total of 40,771 booths would be allocated for election this time. Each booth would include thousand voters. Covid patients can vote in the last hour.
Three districts Malappuram, Wayanad and Palakkad have been identified as affected areas. More security personnel would be deployed in these areas. By-election for Malappuram Lok Sabha constituency would be held simultaneously with the Assembly elections. The Chief Election Commissioner also said that social media and fake news would be regulated.
