New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Party (RJD) national spokesperson Nawal Kishore slammed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for imposing the lockdown "so late" in the state.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Kishore said that the decision to impose the lockdown in the state should have been taken earlier. A lot of people lost their lives due to poor mismanagement by the state government.
"A lot of lives could have been saved if the lockdown was imposed at the end of March itself. But the government did not think about the people. The Opposition was continuously demanding to impose the lockdown but the government didn't pay heed to it," he alleged.
He also said that the lockdown was imposed only after the Patna High Court expressed its anguish over the government's COVID-19 management.
Notably, earlier on Tuesday, the Bihar government announced that in view of the increasing coronavirus cases, lockdown imposed in the state till May 15.
The decision to impose lockdown was taken at the meeting of the Crisis Management Group presided over by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
