Railways delivers 1,118 MT of oxygen in a single day

The Indian Railways set another record by delivering more than 1100 metric tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen in a single day. Oxygen Expresses have been delivering nearly 800 MT of LMO to the nation daily.

New Delhi: The Indian Railways on Friday set another milestone by delivering 1118 metric tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen across the nation, which is the highest single-day supply by an Oxygen Express, so far.

The oxygen trains have been delivering nearly 800 MT of LMO to the Nation every day on average.

So far, a total of 13319 MT of Oxygen has been delivered in 814 tankers by 208 Oxygen Expresses to various states across the country. Meanwhile, 13 loaded Oxygen Expresses with more than 1018 MT of LMO are currently in operation.

According to officials, 614 MT of Oxygen has been offloaded in Maharashtra, nearly 3338 MT in UP, 521 MT in MP, 4110 MT in Delhi, 1619 MT in Haryana, 98 MT in Rajasthan, 714 MT in Karnataka, 320 MT in Uttarakhand, 649 MT in Tamil Nadu, 292 MT in Andhra Pradesh, 153 MT in Punjab, 118 MT in Kerala and 772 MT in Telangana.

To deliver oxygen to the states, Indian Railways is loading its trains from oxygen plants at Hapa, Baroda, Mundra in the western region and Rourkela, Durgapur, Tatanagar and Angul in the East and then delivering it to the States of Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Telangana, Punjab, Kerala, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

The average speed of these freight trains is way above 55 kmph in most cases over long distances. Railways is running these trains on high-priority green corridors. Technical stoppages have been reduced to one minute for crew changes at different sections.

This is done without disrupting the operations of other trains, the Ministry of Railways said.
