Rahul Gandhi, Cong MPs stage walkout of Parliamentary panel meet on Defence: Sources

According to sources, Rahul Gandhi along with other party MPs walked out of the Parliamentary panel meeting on Defence over the discussion of border issues.

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, along with other party MPs staged a walkout of the Parliamentary Panel Meeting on Defence on Wednesday. According to sources, Rahul Gandhi and the Congress MPs demanded a discussion over the issue of Line of Actual Control (LAC) but the Chair denied the opportunity.

Also, the Congress MPs asked the Chair to reconvene this meeting but that too was turned down. Therefore, as a mark of protest, the opposition leaders walked out of the meeting. However, the agenda of the Parliamentary Committee meeting was reviewing the working of Cantt Boards.

Rahul Gandhi has been targetting the government over the border issues. He has accused the Center of weakening the country, saying that India has never been so vulnerable. On Wednesday, he shared a media report on Twitter which claimed that Chinese soldiers had again crossed the LAC in eastern Ladakh with at least one incident of clash between the two sides. He tweeted, "GOI's use of foreign and defence policy as a domestic political tool has weakened our country. India has never been this vulnerable."
