New Delhi: The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu greeted the people on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi.
In a message, the President has said, "On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all the fellow citizens living in India and abroad."
Venkaiah Naidu, in his message, said, "I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’."
The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi marks the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha and will be celebrated on September 10. Just like last year, this year's celebration will also be dampened by the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Acknowledging the fact, President Kovind advised people to celebrate while adhering to Covid appropriate behaviour. "On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, this year, let us pray to Lord Ganesha to make our efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic successful and bestow happiness and peace on all of us."

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu also advocated caution in his message.
"Though this festival is normally celebrated across the country with great traditional fervor, in light of the pandemic, we need to be cautious this year and celebrate the festival in a modest manner, strictly adhering to COVID-appropriate behaviour. May the festival usher in peace, prosperity and happiness in our country," he said.
