Hyderabad: Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Saturday called for the postponement of the NEET examination, and alleged that 'crony capitals under Modi regime are usurping the share of deserving youth in the country'.
Taking to Twitter, Singhvi said "#OperationNEET shows how the crony capitals under #Modi regime are usurping the share of deserving youth in the country. As demanded by the @INCIndia, #NEET exam should be postponed and fresh paper should be drafted for the rescheduled exams."
Congress leaders have been supporting the demand put forth by a section of medical aspirants who want the NEET-UG 2021 exam scheduled for September 12 to be postponed. Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had urged the government to postpone the examination and to let the students "have a fair chance" in the exams.
"Time after time the government pushes on against the legitimate demands of students across India. Why is it so hard for those in power to hear out and help those who are the future of our nation? Does their mental health and well being not matter?" Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had said on Twitter with the hashtag "JusticeForNEETAspirants".
On September 6, the Supreme Court refused to defer the NEET-UG examination, saying it does not want to interfere with the process and it will be "very unfair" to reschedule it. The petitioners had sought deferment of NEET-UG 2021 as many other examinations are scheduled around September 12. According to information available, around 16 lakh candidates are likely to appear in the NEET exam this year.
