New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Gopal Krishna Agarwal said the poll trend in the first phase indicated that the party would win the elections in West Bengal. The continuing behaviour and statements of Mamata and her party workers signal that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has lost all hopes of winning the elections, he said.

Agarwal, who has been attending a roadshow with party national president JP Nadda in Kerala, said the party is determined to win elections in Assam too.
Responding to Mamata's diatribe on the Modi-led government's failure in handling the country's economy, Agarwal said the economic growth in West Bengal under Mamata was 'pathetic.

"What does Mamata know about economics? The way she has handled West Bengal's economic growth and development is pathetic," he said.
"Every industrialist, every businessman, have run away from West Bengal. They have basically come to Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. Those states have done remarkably good in attracting investment and setting up of industries," he added.
