Earlier in the day, Karnataka state president, DK Shivkumar said that if Olympic medal-winning sportswomen have to sit on protest then it was a shame for the nation. He criticised the "BJP-controlled Delhi Police" for not filing an FIR despite repeated protests. He said that it seems as if the BJP leaders are above the law. BJP has a separate IPC namely 'Immunity and Protection Code', he alleged.
