North 24 Parganas (West Bengal): West Bengal Police arrested three Telangana youths and nine Bangladesh infiltrators near Indo-Bangladesh border at Hakimpur under Swarupnagar police station of North 24 Parganas on Friday.
According to police and Border Security Force (BSF) sources, the three Telangana youths were trying to enter Bangladesh through the Hakimpur border area when the jawans of BSF's 112th Battalion captured them.
They did not have any valid documents to enter Bangladesh. BSF arrested and handed over them to Swarupnagar police. Alongside, BSF also arrested nine citizens from Bangladesh including two children from Hakimpur border area. The nine had infiltrated into Indian from Bangladesh without valid documents. They were also handed over to the police.
The judge of Basirhat court remanded them to police custody for 14 days. The arrested Bangladesh citizens said that they had entered India looking for job. The reason why the three Telangana youths tried to illegally cross the border is not yet known.
