Sultanpur (Uttar Pradesh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday accused the earlier governments in the state of being concerned only about the interests of their families. Without mentioning the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) the Prime Minister accused them of resorting to discrimination over the development of the state and of dynasty politics.
"In these circumstances, it was also unfortunate that both Delhi and Lucknow were dominated by the dynasties. For years and years, this partnership of family members kept crushing the aspirations of UP," said Modi, in the poll-bound state.
Speaking at an event during the inauguration of the Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur, he further alleged that the earlier governments did not cooperate with the Centre when he became the prime minister in 2014.
"The people of UP will hold the government accountable and remove it for the unfair treatment of the people of UP, discrimination done in development and the way only the interest of their family was being served by the then government," said Modi.

Without naming earlier chief ministers such as Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati, the prime minister said that development work done by them was only limited to the areas where they lived. He also said that earlier the people of the state were plagued with a lack of connectivity.
"For previous chief ministers, development was limited to where they had their homes. But today, the demands of Purvanchal are given equal importance as the demands of the West” the prime minister said.
He alleged that the earlier governments in the state made tall claims about industrialisation but rarely bothered about connectivity. He also said that due to lack of connectivity several factories located in the area had to shut down.
The prime minister said that the security of the country is equally important as its prosperity and hence emergency landing provision for fighter jets is made while constructing the Purvanchal Expressway.
He also said that the roar of these planes will be for those who ignored the defence infrastructure in the country for decades.
