Kanpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda all on Tuesday took shots at former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav during their individual rallies in the poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.

Modi, during his visit to the Kanpur Metro Rail Project, said the 'itar' of corruption in Uttar Pradesh before 2017 has now been exposed, taking a veiled dig at Yadav using the recent raid at perfume trader Piyush Jain's residence.

"The 'itar' (fragrance) of corruption that was spread before 2017 in the entire state has now been exposed. They are not commenting on the issue, nor taking the credit," Modi said, according to a news agency.

Modi inaugurated the completed section of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project and took a ride. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri were also present on the occasion.

In UP's Hardoi, meanwhile, for HM Amit Shah, the pre-2017 Yadav-rule meant 'Apraadh' (crime), 'Bhaai-Bhatijavaad' (nepotism) and 'Corruption'.

''The A, B, C, D of Samajwadi Party is itself all wrong where 'A' is for 'Apraadh aur Aatank' (crime and terrorism), 'B' is for 'Bhaai-Bhatijaavaad' (nepotism), 'C' for 'Corruption' aur 'D' means 'Dangaa' (riots)", Shah said, attacking the SP and party supremo Akhilesh Yadav, according to a news agency.

Hardoi has been a stronghold for both SP and its leader Naresh Chandra Agarwal, who joined BJP back in 2018.

The Home Minister further attacked BJPs political rivals in the state, saying caste-based priorities were given to different groups at different periods of time.

"When the SP came (to power), development of only one caste took place, while the development of another caste took place when the BSP came (to power). When Modijee came, then 'sabkaa saath-sabkaa vikaas' is taking place," he added.

BJP National president JP Naddda, in his Vishwas Rally held in Hapur and Budaun, said that Yadav's pictures with huge crowds in SP rallies meant nothing, as "the crowd is from somewhere, and the leader is from somewhere else".

"Leaders from no other political party can hold a Vishwas rally, because they have done the very opposite of what they have said. The BJP, however, has done what it said it would do", Nadda said.
