New Delhi: Congress party on Tuesday blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for deferring Chinese incursion onto Indian Territory saying that it has posed a "potential threat" to India's strategic interest.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has refrained from mentioning China's name as the aggressor, and has stipulated that "not an inch of Indian territory" had been ceded, what was discussed at the 13 rounds of military talks? And the Army Chief did say, 'China is here to stay...'."

"The 13th round of Corps Commander Level meeting was held between both the Indian and Chinese Military and there was no agreement coming out of it. The Chinese have been brazenly entering Indian territory while our jawans at the borders are bravely stopping but this government and especially prime minister is scared of event taking the name of China and holding them accountable," he further added.

Khera asserted that the fresh Chinese incursions near Barahoti crossing the Tun Jun La pass in Uttrakhand with five transpiration in the area lasting for several hours and the upper reaches of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh poses a potential threat to India's strategic interests in northern sectors.

He also cited the statement released by Ministry of External Affairs, which states that the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) had been caused by "unilateral attempts of Chinese side to alter the status quo and in violation of bilateral agreements."

"Why did PM Modi lie to the country stating that no Chinese had entered into Indian territory? Why the government is silent on these incursions?" Khera asked.

Earlier today, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has tweeted over the matter by sharing a news clip and also took a dig at PM Modi by stating, "Mr 56" why don't you show red eyes?"
