New Delhi: The Delhi Police Special Cell on Tuesday arrested a terror suspect of Pakistani national from Ramesh Park, Laxmi Nagar. According to the police, the accused identified as Mohammed Ashraf alias Ali possessed a fake Indian ID.
Police have recovered an AK-47 assault rifle with one extra magazine and 60 rounds, a hand grenade, and 2 sophisticated pistols with 50 rounds from the arrested.
The accused, a resident of Pakistan's Punjab province, has been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Act, Arms Act & other provisions. Further search is underway at his Delhi residence.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the apprehended terror suspect has entered the country through the porous borders of India - Nepal.
Sources said the suspect was planning to carry out a major attack during the festive season.
The Delhi Police has received inputs of a possible terrorist attack in the capital region. Pursuing the inputs, the Delhi Police top brass has issued instructions to all the district police personnel, Special Cell and Crime Branch to keep a vigil.
