Bhiwani (Haryana): Former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala has passed 10th standard examination after he appeared for the 10th class English paper August 18. Dr Jagbir Singh, President of the Haryana School Education Board, Chautala passed the examination with 88 marks out of 100. At the age of 86, the Chautala has become the oldest person to pass the 10th standard examination in the state
According to Dr Singh, Chautala will have to submit an application after which his result will be declared. He said he called Chautala to inform him about the result. However, the former Chief Minister's PA picked up the phone as he was addressing a gathering of workers at Panchkula.
Chautala has recently first given the 10th standard examination and then the 12th standard examination while lodged in Tihar Jail in Delhi. However, his 12th standard examination result was put on hold as he could not clear the English paper which was why he had to appear for it again.
Malkit, a 14-year-old ninth standard student, helped Chautala write the paper. Due to his age and an injury to his hand, Chautala had sought a writer a from the board. He had otherwise passed the 20th standard examination at the age of 82 from National Institute of Open School in 2017 with 53.40 percent marks in Urdu, Science, Social Studies and Indian Culture and Heritage subjects.
