Kolkata: The divorce of actress-turned-politician and Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member, Nusrat Jahan and her estranged husband, Nikhil Jain was completed following a judgment by a lower court in Kolkata on Tuesday.
The court verdict went in favour of Jain who filed the petition for the annulment of their marriage. Jain's counsel, Satyabrata Chakraborty also confirmed that the verdict has gone in favour of his client.
Jain filed the case even before the actress- turned- politician became pregnant. It was learnt that Jain had sent the notice of the divorce in February this year. After Jahan became pregnant Jain claimed that he was not the father of that child.

In June, when the news of Jahan becoming pregnant became public, there were several speculations on who the father was. The entire social media was full of speculations on this count.
At that point in time, Jahan claimed their marriage was illegal as per Turkish law. She also said that since their marriage was not conducted under the Special Marriage Act, her relationship with Jain was just a live-in relationship. According to her, her marriage with Jain was not legal at all.
Since her marriage was not conducted under the Special Marriage Act, the only legal way out for the separation was the annulment of marriage. So Jain opted for it and now the court has finalised their separation.
