Chandigarh: Wednesday came with a political chaos in Haryana. Congress moved a no-confidence motion during budget session claiming that the government was in the minority in as many MLAs supported farmer movement. But this attempt of the Congress to topple the government proved a failure. This no-confidence motion of the opposition fell to the House by a margin of 55-32. In the voting process, only 32 MLAs were in support of the motion of no confidence. Which includes 30 Congress and two Independent MLAs.
55 MLAs voted against the no-confidence motion. These include 40 BJP, 10 Jan Nayak Janata Party and 5 Independents. It is worth noting that the JJP MLAs were showing rebellion against the party in support of the farmers outside the House. but they appeared with the government during voting on the no-confidence motion. only Haryana Lokhit party MLA from Sirsa constituency Gopal Kanda also voted in favor of the government and against the motion of no confidence in the House.

Congress should bring no-confidence motion every 6 months- Chief Minister
Speaking on the motion of no confidence, Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that why should the Congress not bring a motion of no confidence every 6 months. The CM said that the work of the opposition is to criticize and it should be so. By the way, the Congress remains in disbelief. Distrust of EVMs in elections, distrust of surgical strikes, Congress should not try to spoil the atmosphere.
Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala also targeted the Congress over the no-confidence motion. He said that the Congress wants to grab power. But the beautiful dreams of Mungeri Lal will never be fulfilled. This government will run for five years.
On the other hand opposition leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that Govt is exposed. I'd said they'll get majority as they had issued whip. I had urged Speaker for secret voting but it didn't happen. Had there been secret voting results would've been different. Still, our numbers rose from 30 to 32.
Congress state president Kumari Sailja said in a tweet that 'No confidence motion has been dropped in the assembly today, but the legislators who supported the government have fallen from the eyes of the public. Today it has become clear who stands with the farmers and who is intent on sacrificing the interests of the farmers in the greed of power.

in this all political chaos, Two independent legislators voted in support of the no-confidence motion. Among them, Balraj Kundu, who has been continuously campaigning against corruption against the government, and Sombir Sangwan, the MLA from Dadri constituency, who resigned in support of the farmers from the chairman of the Livestock Development Board. Both these MLAs have already withdrawn support to the government in protest against the agricultural law.
Supporting the motion of no confidence, Sombir Sangwan said that today no MLA, Minister or Chief Minister wants to hold a public meeting. Some minister is in the rigmarole of saving the chair, some are in the hurry to save the post, he said.
It is also a matter to note that the MLAs who were in the government were openly supporting the farmers, while giving statements against the party line, but they also appeared with the government during the vote on the no confidence motion. JJP MLA Ramkumar Gautam from Narnaund, JJP MLA Ramkaran Kala from Shahabad, JJP MLA Devendra Babli from Tohana, JJP MLA Jogiram Sihag from Barwala remained against the no-confidence motion despite being angry.
JJP MLA Devendra Babli from Tohana Assembly was not given a chance to speak. Babli was continuously speaking against the party line in support of the farmers. meanwhile he warned that he would resign.
In view of the majority test, BJP, JJP and Congress had issued the whip in the initiative itself. Probably the reason was that despite raising the voice against party the rebel MLAs stood with the government.
