Patna: The democracy in Bihar was to give a new dimension to the promise of development in 2020, but things have taken a unique turn with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar surprising all by announcing that this assembly poll would be his last electoral battle. It will be the last stop of his political journey. His announcement has come as a big surprise as he was till now claiming to take the process of development to its new height in Bihar.
During his election campaign in Purnea’s Dhamdaha, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that this was his last election and all is well that ends well. After this statement of Nitish Kumar, political discussion has intensified in Bihar.
If Nitish Kumar wins the battle of ballots in Bihar this time too, he will hold the reins of the State as the seventh Chief Minister of Bihar. The question is what are the criteria of development which have forced Nitish Kumar to say that this election will be the last one of his journey in politics. After the two phases of elections and the BJP’s trust in Nitish, the politics of Bihar has assumed a new dimension with his one statement.
Chief Minister Kumar started his political career in 1977. He entered electoral politics from Harnaut assembly seat in Nalanda. Nitish Kumar contested from Harnaut assembly seat four times. He lost the elections of 1977 and 1980, while he won the elections of 1985 and 1995. Nitish Kumar contested his last election in 2004 in which he won from Nalanda. Since then Nitish Kumar has not contested any election. He has been the Chief Minister of Bihar for six times. He is the 36th Chief Minister of Bihar.
Defeat has made him desperate: Congress
Political reactions have started pouring in after the announcement of Nitish Kumar that the current assembly poll in Bihar would be his last election. Reacting to his statement, the Congress said that Nitish Kumar has come to know that he is frustrated and is clearly losing the poll. So, he has given this statement in desperation.
Nitish Kumar is tired: Upendra Kushwaha
Upendra Kushwaha, former Union Minister and RLSP chief, said that Nitish Kumar is tired. Now he should guide others as an elder brother and give younger brothers a chance. People are asking him about the works he has done in Bihar as its Chief Minister, which is distracting him.
Bihar was just cheated: RJD
RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari said that the people of Bihar have only been cheated by Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar has said that this is his last election, which is right because this is the only election he has fought. Now nothing is going to happen after this.
