Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday morning conducted raids at several locations in Kashmir Valley in connection with June 27 case linked to IED recovery in Jammu.
According to sources, NIA teams raided the house of Mohammad Shafi Wani, a resident of Lasjan in Srinagar's outskirts and seized the mobile phones of Shafi and his son Rayees Ahmad Wani.
The NIA also raided the house of Waseem Ahmad Dar of Larm Ganjipora in Kulgam district and the residence of Bamnoo in Anantnag district.
The team also carried out raids in the residence of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani of Zandfaran Sheer in Baramulla district and recovered some documents from his possession. Wani is an employee in the Department of Sericulture.
The NIA has not issued any official statement about the raids. Local police are also tight-lipped about the searches.
The Jammu and Kashmir police on June 27 arrested an alleged terrorist belonging to the Resistance Resistance, a frontal group of Lashkar-e-Taiba and seized a 5.5-kg-IED from his possession. The accused, Nadeem-ul-Haq, a resident of Zainhal-Banihal in Ramban, was in contact with his handlers in Pakistan and south Kashmir Shopian, Jammu's Senior Superintendent of Police Chandan Kohli had said. His arrest came hours after two explosions rocked the high security Jammu Force Station station which was carried out by drones.
