New Tibet President visits Mussoorie, expresses gratitude to India

The newly elected President of Tibet Pepa Tsering, who is on a visit to Mussoorie, expressed his gratitude to the government and people of India for their support to the Tibetan refugees .

Mussoorie: The newly elected President of the Tibetan government in exile Penpa Tsering is on a visit to Mussoorie during the course of which he inspected the Tibetan Homes School in Mussoorie.

Describing Mussoorie as a place of great importance and pride for the people of Tibet, he said that Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama Dalai Lama from Tibet first came to Mussoorie and stayed here before going to Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh

“That's why Mussoorie is our second home,” he said. “The climate and weather of Mussoorie is very nice. It is one of the beautiful tourist places in the world.”

He said that the first Tibetan school was also built in Mussoorie, due to which the people of Tibet have great affection for this place.

Stating that it has been three months since he was sworn in as President, Tsering said that he will also inspect Central School for Tibetans after inspecting Tibetan Homes in Mussoorie. Soon all Tibetan schools will be brought under Central Tibetan School Administration. So far, the Prime Minister has inspected six schools in this connection.

Describing the development of Tibet society as a big challenge, he expressed his gratitude to the government and people of India for their support to the Tibetan refugees. Though politically, India has to look after its national interests first and then build relations with foreign countries, Tsering said said that from the time of the Dalai Lama's exile till now, the Government of India has extended all help to the people of Tibet.

“From India's first Prime Minister Nehru till today, full support has been given,” he said.

Regarding ties with China, the Tibetal President said that “we will talk to them to build good relations”

“However, it is most challenging.” he said. “For this we are following the middle path. Along with this, our people who are living in Tibet also have to preserve our dialect, language and culture.”

He also said said that the culture of India is very similar to that of Tibet.

Tsering said that the struggle for Tibet's independence will continue, but until talks with China are held, they will continue to fight internationally and seek the support of different countries of the world.

“At the same time, along with the work of strengthening the Tibetan society, we will also take care of those who are living in India and foreign countries,” he added.
