Chennai: A student, Kanimozhi, resident of Ariyalur district, has scored 562 out of 600 marks in her Class XII board examinations, died by suicide due to fear of not making the cut in the recently concluded NEET 2021, a day after Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly adopts a Bill envisaging exemption from the entrance test.
Soon after the exam on Sunday, she had told her father Karunanidhi - a lawyer, that she could not perform well in the exam and that her dream would be crushed.

Ironically, the teenager was all smiles a few months ago when she had topped her class in the Class XII board examination with a score of 93.6 per cent.
On September 12, another medical aspirant from Salem in Tamil Nadu also died by suicide over ahead of the examination.
On Monday, the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government passed a Bill against the NEET meant for admission to medical colleges.
The Bill has been adopted by the House and would be forwarded to the President Ram Nath Kovind for his assent.
