Pune: A Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) party worker has been booked for assaulting a woman sarpanch from Loni Kalbhor area in Pune. A video of Sujit Kalbhor, the NCP activist, beating Gauri Chittaranjan Gaikwad, the woman sarpanch, has gone viral. Sujit, however, has lodged a counter-complaint against Gauri.
Though the exact reason for the skirmish is yet to be ascertained, sources said it was triggered because both parties claimed credit for organising a COVID-19 vaccination drive. The health department had organised a COVID-19 vaccination drive at a school under Kadamwakvasti gram panchayat limits. Around 11 am, a verbal duel broke out between Gauri and Sujit, which later snowballed into a physical brawl.
Apart from Gauri, a case of non-cognisable offence has been filed against her supporters Avinash Badade, Sachin Arvind Kalbhor and Mahesh Dnyaneshwar Kalbhor.
