PM Modi lauds security forces for thwarting terror attack

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded the security forces for thwarting the terror attack.

"Neutralising of 4 terrorists belonging to Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed and the presence of large cache of weapons and explosives with them indicates that their efforts to wreak major havoc and destruction have once again been thwarted," The Prime Minister said in a tweet.

"Our security forces have once again displayed utmost bravery and professionalism. Thanks to their alertness, they have defeated a nefarious plot to target grassroots level democratic exercises in Jammu and Kashmir," he added.

New Delhi: A day after four terrorists were neutralised in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Nagrota, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a review meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other top officials.

According to reports which quoted government sources, it was found that the terrorists were planning a big attack on the anniversary of the 26/11 terror attack.

Four suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway on the outskirts of Jammu city early on Thursday.

"The slain terrorists were carrying a huge cache of arms, ammunition and had come to execute a big plan," IGP, Jammu, Mukesh Singh said.

The encounter started after a vehicle, in which the terrorists were travelling, was intercepted by security forces personnel near the Ban toll plaza of Nagrota on the highway.
