Nayagarh (Odisha): Men have died one after the other in Gunduribadi village in Odisha setting off unease among the villagers who believed a ghost was behind the deaths.
People in the village in Nayagarh district have now started migrating to escape from the wrath of what they believe is an invisible power.
About six families of the ‘Harijan Sahi’ (a particular area of the village inhabited by scheduled caste persons) have been migrating through the past year. Their homes, which they made after spending their earnings, have been lying empty like haunted houses.
Villagers say five untimely deaths - all of them men - occurred in the past four years.

Two newly-married males have died in a year. All the male members of a family staying in the village earlier have died without a specific reason, a villager said.
It is being rumoured that an 'invisible spirit' is specifically targeting the newly married male members.
To find a solution, people approached sorcerers who advised them to leave the village, a local resident said.

Villagers say the local administration has not taken steps to end the fear gripping the area.
Volunteers of a non-profit organisation are said to be working among the villagers to dispel their fears and help them live a normal life.
