Mumbai (Maharashtra): The Esplanade Court on Friday rejected bail plea of Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Kha.
Earlier in the day, during the hearing on the bail plea in connection in connection with the drugs-on-cruise case, he has made an emotional appeal to the court saying, "I am Indian. My parents are Indian and living in India. I have Indian passport. I am co-operating with the authority. There is no question that I will leave the country."
Since the court rejected his bail plea, Khan's lawyer is likely to move the sessions court. Aryan Khan has been sent to Arthur road jail and placed in quarantine cell.
A fierce argument happened between Aryan's lawyer Maneshinde and narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) lawyer over the bail application in the court. The NCB was seen vociferously opposing the bail plea on various grounds.
On Monday, Mumbai's Killa court had extended the custodial remand of Aryan and two other accused Arbaz Seth Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha to October 7 in connection with the drugs-on-cruise case. As per the NCB sources, the trio confessed to carrying drugs with them on the cruise. The trio's custodial remand with the NCB ended on October 4 and the Magistrate Court had sent them into judicial custody.
The NCB operation followed a tip-off on the proposed rave party that was planned aboard a cruise ship bound on a Mumbai-Goa voyage, setting sail from the International Cruise Terminal from the metro. The advertisement of the party was reportedly disseminated via social media with the ticket rates at Rs75,000 per person.
The NCB sleuths had booked themselves on the cruise as ordinary passengers and found guests on board consuming drugs. In the raid that followed, drugs like MDMA, ecstasy, cocaine, MD (mephedrone) and charas were recovered from them.
Distancing itself from the controversy, the cruise company is extending all its support and cooperation to the authorities. In a statement issued on Sunday, Jurgen Bailom, CEO of Waterways Leisure Tourism Pvt Ltd, stated that Cordelia Cruises is in no way, directly or indirectly, connected to this incident.
So far, eight persons were nabbed by the NCB. The arrested include Nupur Sarika, Ismeet Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Vikrant Chhoker, and Gomit Chopra,
