Attari (Punjab): Prahlad Singh Rajput, a resident of Ghosi Patti village of Gourjhamar in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, who had accidentally moved into Pakistan territory around 23 years ago and was languishing in a jail in that country all these years, has been finally handed over to India Monday. He was released at the Attari-Wagah border and brought back to his homeland.
Suffering from mental illness, Prahlad was 33 years old when he sent missing from his home. His relatives lodged a missing report with the police but despite many searches he could not be found. In 2014, police got information that a person named Prahlad Singh was lodged in a Pakistani jail and informed the family members about this. Prahlad is now 56 years old.
According to his relatives, he has been suffering from mental illness and has not been able to provide any information about himself to the Pakistani authorities. However, they expressed happiness that after 23 years they finally got to meet him.
Protocol officer Arun Pal said that after nearly 23 years, Prahlad has been released from Pakistan jail and sent to India through Attari-Wagah border. His brother and some officials have come to take Prahlad.
