Morena: Four people including a sub-inspector and two constables were killed in an accident at the outskirts of Morena in Madhya Pradesh when the vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a truck in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Superintendent of Police Rural Shubham Patel said the deceased had gone to Gwalior for a raid on an absconding criminal from Aligarh's Iglas when their vehicle rammed into a parked truck. The accused they were looking for was wanted in a vehicle theft case.
According to information, the deceased -- all from the Uttar Pradesh police department -- were identified as sub-inspector Manish Kumar of Kotwali Beswa, constable Pawan Kumar, constable Sunil Kumar and driver Deepak Singh. One policeman sustained serious injuries in the freak mishap and has been admitted to Gwalior district hospital for further treatment.
The truck driver fled the spot after the incident and efforts are on to trace him, the official said.
