Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala): Shortly after leaving the Congress party, KPCC General Secretary K P Anil Kumar joined CPM amid rousing reception on Tuesday. Soon after the press meet where Anil Kumar declared he is quitting Congress, he went straight to AKG centre - the headquarters of CPM- in Thiruvananthapuram and received a hearty welcome at the CPM headquarters.

CPM politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan welcomed him adorning a red shawl over him. Senior leaders S. Ramachandran Pillai, MA Baby and Ananthalawattam Anandan also received Anil Kumar to the party. Anil Kumar after ending a 43-year-old relationship with the Congress party, came to AKG Center accompanied by PS Prashanth, who recently quit Congress.

Anil Kumar shared his hope for the future in CPM and said that it is his first visit to AKG Center. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan also responded to the incident saying that Anil Kumar had left congress after his conflict with the tyranny of Congress.

"Anil Kumar came to CPM without any conditions and we welcome him with pleasure. The person who was in a vital position keeping the keys of the KPCC has left the party. Congress leaders affirmed that new leadership actually resolved their problems within the party. But now they are at many issues like there is a landslide in the party," Kodiyeri stated.

Anil Kumar was at loggerheads with the Congress party for some time. He was suspended last month after he questioned the manner in which District Congress Committee presidents were appointed. He was asked to submit an explanation for his remarks. Anil Kumar was the Youth Congress President from 2002 to 2007. He was made party's General Secretary when Ramesh Chennithala was elevated to the President post.
