Hyderabad: Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh on Sunday took a dig at the Modi government saying it 'should now refer Bills to the reconstituted Parliamentary Standing Committees- something it has been loath to do.' He further said, "but we live in hope."
Taking to Twitter, the former Union Minister said, "better late than later. The 24 Standing Committees of Parliament have finally been announced. Only one small matter remains. Modi Sarkar should now refer Bills to these Committees for scrutiny—something it has been loath to do. But we live in hope. @ombirlakota @MVenkaiahNaidu".
Parliamentary standing committees were reconstituted for a new term on Saturday and Congress members continue to head panels on Home, Information Technology and Environment and Forests. According to the bulletin issued by the Rajya Sabha secretariat, Jairam Ramesh will retain the chairmanship of the panel on Science and Technology and Environment, and Forests and Climate Change.
