Misuse of Central investigation agencies a cause for concern, says Saamana

Saamana in its editorial cried foul over the misuse of Central agencies by the BJP government to witch-hunt their opponents. Taking a jibe at the BJP government, it stated that Central Investigation Agencies and NCB officials register false cases against those who ask them questions at the behest of the Centre and brand them as traitors.

Mumbai: It is unfortunate that the BJP government at the Centre was misusing the Central agencies to launch a witch-hunt against their enemies, alleged an editorial in Saamana. After the Sushant Singh Rajput case, and now, it is the turn of Aryan Khan's case, which was being highlighted in the media, as the latter is being the son of Bollywood superstar Sharukh Khan.

"The BJP is like any other party and this should be understood by its key leaders. So, the balance of power keeps going up and down, they should not forget this, as they are using the Central Investigation Agencies to target their rivals," it lamented.

A shocking revelation came to the fore in Aryan Khan's episode. A demand of Rs 25 crore was made through intermediaries to avert the action taken against Aryan Khan. Of that, Rs 8 crore was to be given to officer Sameer Wankhede, alleged Prabhakar Sail.

The question is not about Shah Rukh Khan or his son, but about the BJP, which is allegedly using the Central Investigation Agencies, to suppress the backbone of political opponents, it alleged.

After the Sushanth Singh Rajput episode and now it is the turn of Aryan Khan, says the editorial, and added that "At the drugs party on Cardelia cruise, some young men had taken or brought drugs. Only the swindler and pervert officer will know what the truth is. Actor Shah Rukh Khan's son was also caught in that operation. Due to Khan's son Aryan, this episode is getting innumerable publicity and due to that the chief officers of NCB have become unruly and tyrannical."

It was pointed out that it is not the job of NCB to check drugs worth Rs 4,000. The Mumbai police have an independent anti-drug squad and the Mumbai police seize and destroy goods worth crores of rupees, but they do not engage in false propaganda. One or two grams of intoxicants were found on Cardelia cruise and it was blown out of proportion by Sameer Wankhede of NCB. While 3,500 kg of heroin worth about Rs 25,000 crore was found at Mundra port in Gujarat owned by industrialist Adani, so in terms of publicity and action, one gram of charas found on a cruise in Mumbai has received wide publicity while there was no mention of seizure of 3,500 kg of heroin, it is unfair, it stated.

It should be noted the case of 3,500 kg of heroin came and ended at the Mundra port. But, the one gram of charas case is still going on while Aryan Khan and others are languishing in jail. Legal experts say that considering the whole case and the basic evidence, bail should be granted in this case. "Bring the children trapped in such cases on the right path. Give them appropriate punishment. Don't push them in the same mud, again and again, our law says so, but it doesn't seem to have be happening."

"It is an attack on the independence of states and their rights. Central Investigation Agencies and NCB officials register false cases against those who ask them questions and brand them as traitors at the behest of the BJP government," it pointed out.
