New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has put all the central security agencies on alert following reports that Pakistan backed terrorist organisations might attempt to create sabotage in J&K after the Taliban took over Afghanistan. Quoting intelligence report, a senior official in the home ministry said that a high alert has been sounded in the entire J&K to foil all possible attempts of the forces inimical to India's security.

"Although nothing can be confirmed at this moment, we are closely monitoring the situation," the official said. The intelligence agencies also took serious note of the statement issued by Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) on the death of radical Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. The separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani died on September 1 following a severe illness. In a message, AQIS has condoled the death of Geelani and said that Kashmir is in its blood.

The 92-year-old separatist leader was opposing the Indian government for years and routinely called for the boycott of elections in Kashmir. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also sit for a review meeting with the top officials of J&K over the law and order situation of the region very soon. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Home Secretary Shaleen Kabra, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh, and officials from RAW and IB will be present in the meeting which will discuss the impact over J&K after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.

In another development, the central government has initiated steps for the visit of union ministers to J&K starting September 10. The Ministers after visiting will compile a report and submit it to the Home Ministry and PMO. The move was taken as an outreach programme of the central government.
