Kerala man falls in honeytrap, robbed; Mangaluru police arrest four

According to the complainant, one of the accused, Zeenat befriended him on Facebook. When the victim came to Surathkal in Mangaluru, she took him to her home in his car and assaulted with the help of accomplices. They captured the victim's nude videos and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh.

Mangaluru: Mangaluru police on Monday arrested four persons, including two women, for allegedly honey trapping, blackmailing and robbing a man from Kerala.

The accused in the case were identified as Surathkal's Reshma alias Neema, Zeenat alias Jeenat Mubeen, her husband Iqbal Mohammed alias Iqbal and Nasif alias Abdul Qader Najeeb.

According to the complainant, one of the accused, Zeenat befriended him on Facebook. When the victim came to Surathkal in Mangaluru, she took him to her home in his car and assaulted with the help of accomplices. They captured the victim's nude videos and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh.

The gang collected Rs 30,000 from the victim following which he lodged a police complaint.

Speaking at a press conference, Mangalore city commissioner Shashikumar said, "four accused have been arrested. Reshma and Zeenat had introduced themselves to the youth through Facebook, called him home and robbed him."

During the investigation, it was revealed that the gang had robbed six more through honeytrap and reports suggest that most of the victims were from Kerala. Police said that the women lured the youth by speaking in local Byari language and robbed them.

"All these accused were leading a luxurious life and owned an XUV 500. They also used to smuggle cows across the state and four credit cards have also been seized from Zeenat's possession," the police added.
