Mangaluru (Karnataka): Popular doctor Dr B Kakkilaya Srinivas was on Wednesday booked under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, for refusing to wear a face mask at a supermarket here.
As per the complaint filed by the supermarket's business partner Ryan Rosario at the Mangaluru East police station, Dr Kakkilaya, who arrived at the store at around 8.45 am, refused to wear a mask when one of the store employees asked him to do so.

A video footage shows Rosario confronting Dr Kakkilaya at the billing counter. However, the latter refuses to mask up saying, "I do not want to get fooled by this foolish government" and "there is no need of mask".
It is pertinent to note that several state governments have made it mandatory for people to wear face masks while venturing out of the house.
Dr Kakkilaya drew flak from netizens for his act after the CCTV footage went viral on social media.
