Man gets death penalty for killing baby daughter

Prashnatha Gouda Patil, guilty of killing his one and half-year-old daughter was sentenced to death by District Session Court in Gadag. Justice Rajashekar V Patil pronounced the verdict.

Gadag(Karnataka): The District Session Court of Gadag has sentenced the man convicted for killing his one and half-year-old daughter.

Justice Rajashekar V Patil pronounced the verdict of death sentence of Prashnatha Gouda Patil hailing from Hullura village of Rona Taluk in the Gadaga district.

The convict Prashanta Gouda Patil married a Muslim girl in 2012 and later started to harras her for minor reasons every day. After suffering from harassment for a long time, she went to the Women's Rehabilitation Centre and gave birth. Later, the officials called up the convict and convinced him to lead a good life with his wife and daughter. He also agreed and took her back home.

After a couple of weeks, he again started harassing her and urged her to take back the case which was registered in the Women Rehabilitation Centre. Later, she moved the Court seeking alimony.

During the case hearing, Gouda took his daughter to Kakaleshwara hill near Gajendragada on April 6, 2015, and killed her. He also destroyed evidence. After a couple of days, the woman had speculations about her husband and lodged a complaint against him in Rona police station.

The police investigation found out that he was guilty and he was brought before the Court. After the hearing and inquiry, the Gadaga District and Session court have sentenced him to death.
