Hyderabad: Pallakonda Raju, the 30-year-old man, who carried a bounty of Rs 10 lakh on his head in the brutal rape and murder a six-year-old girl at Singaneri Colony in Saidabad here on September 9, was found dead on a railway track in Warangal's Ghanpur area on Thursday.

Police, who ascertained his identity from the tattoos on his hand, said he committed suicide.

"The accused of "Child Sexual Molestation and murder @ Singareni Colony, found  dead on the railway track, in the limits of #StationGhanpurPoliceStation. Declared after the verification of identification marks on deceased body (sic)," DGP, Telangana Police confirmed in a tweet, also shared by Telangana Chief Minister KCR's son and minister KTR.

Two days ago, the police had announced a cash reward of Rs. 10 lakh for information on Pallakonda Raju. The police said they believed that a local person has helped Raju to escape. He was spotted in the Uppal region yesterday, police said.

"As his posters were put up everywhere in the city, he may have believed he had no way out and hence committed suicide," police said.
