Mumbai: The Maharashtra Bandh called by the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) to protest the incident at Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh has received a good response in Mumbai and a mixed response in the rest of the state. Except for a minor dispute in Jalgaon, the bandh passed off peacefully in the state. In Nagpur, Aurangabad, traders protested the bandh. There were shops and markets open in many places.
Strict closures were observed in Paral, Dadar, Lalbagh, Worli, Byculla and other areas of Mumbai. The shops were closed except for essential items as traders supported the strike. Shiv Sainiks under the leadership of MLA Sada Sarvankar blocked the road in front of Shiv Sena Bhavan in Dadar. The Congress staged a silent agitation at Raj Bhavan to protest the Lakhimpur incident. NCP staged a protest at Hutatma Chowk.
BEST's loss of Rs 2.5 crore
BEST traffic was also completely closed during the shutdown. This has cost BEST about Rs 2.5 crore. BJP member of the BEST committee Sunil Ganacharya has demanded that the state government should compensate for this loss. Meanwhile, passengers were affected due to the closure of buses, while buses vandalized in eight places.
Market committee closed in Pune
The Agricultural Produce Market Committee in Pune was shut down. PMPML, a public transport service in Pune, was also closed. As a result, the common man suffered a lot. Mahavikas Aghadi also protested against the Centre in Pune. The bandh in Nashik received a mixed response. On the other hand, Manmad, Nandgaon, Chandwad, Yeola, Malegaon and other rural areas received overwhelming response. Agricultural Produce Market Committees in Yavatmal and Amravati in Vidarbha remained closed.

Traders opposed in Nagpur and Aurangabad
In Nagpur, traders opposed the bandh. Government offices, factories continue to work. Then the traders in Nagpur raised the question as to why only traders are made "Bakra". Even in Aurangabad, traders did not support the bandh. Traders protested the closure by keeping their shops open. At this time, the local leaders of Mahavikas Aghadi took to the streets and closed the markets. Even in Shirdi, the effect of the bandh was not seen.
Scuffle in Jalgaon
The incident of scuffle took place in Varangaon in Bhusawal taluka of Jalgaon district between Mahavikas Aghadi and BJP workers during the bandh. Some workers were injured.
Fadnavis criticized bandh

BJP state president Chandrakant Patil criticized the Bandh. The incident at Lakhimpur is very inhumane. But opponents have taken up the issue. Now the accused has been arrested, but the bandh was called in Maharashtra, said Chandrakant Patil.

NCP MP Supriya Sule criticized BJP. Whoever the government is, this incident is reprehensible. Sule demanded that the central government should bring justice to the farmers.

Congress state president Nana Patole criticized the BJP, saying the Bandh was a success. The manner in which the BJP opposed the bandh made its position clear. If the BJP supports such an unjust system, then it is objectionable, Patole said.

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said that Maharashtra has called a bandh to raise the voice of farmers. If anyone is saying that we do not support the bandh. So, they should ask themselves, are they really citizens of this country? Raut said.
Withdraw resolution - Prakash Reddy
CPI leader Prakash Reddy demanded that the Mahavikas Aghadi government should immediately withdraw the resolution on agriculture tabled in the Assembly.
Opposition of MNS
Opposing the bandh, MNS has said that the police should not act as activists of Mahavikas Aghadi. When the Farmers Act was passed in the Parliament, were the MPs of Mahavikas Aghadi sitting with their tails on? This question has been raised by MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande.
